Buildcraft · 4 archetypes · 12 mutations
Every advantage exposes a different kind of risk.
Mutations change concrete gameplay properties rather than merely recoloring the creature. The four archetypes organize those changes around pursuit, mass growth, zone control and escape.
Verified against the active game configuration ·
Predator
Turn pursuit into escalating reward.
Predatory Surge
Gain: the opening second of boost reaches 40% higher maximum speed. Cost: boost costs 25% more mass. The red launch flare warns prey to change direction.
Prey Mark
Passing within 120 units marks a target for six seconds. Eliminating that marked target grants 50% more growth, while the visible crimson ring gives the target counterplay.
Hunter's Feast
Food left by creatures you eliminated is worth twice as much. Rivals can still contest the glowing remains before you collect them.
Colossal
Convert collection and rank into presence.
Insatiable Hunger
Food clusters of at least three items within 120 units grant 30% more value, while collection reach increases by 20%.
Titanic Body
Body width increases by 15%, including its collision presence, while maximum speed falls by 5%. Narrow routes become a meaningful limitation.
Giant's Weight
Being in the top five grants 20% more growth; first place grants 40%. Falling out of the top five removes the bonus.
Electric
Control the dangerous space around the body.
Static Shock
Rivals within 90 units of the body are slowed by 12%. Visible cyan rings disclose the affected zone.
Overload
Encirclement pressure builds 25% faster, but body width is reduced by 8%. Opponents can break through the vulnerable point before pressure peaks.
Voltaic Arc
A near collision within 50 units applies an additional 20% slow for 1.5 seconds. The discharge then enters a 15-second cooldown.
Phantom
Spend less to escape, but surrender direct pressure.
Spectral Skin
Boost costs 40% less mass, while collision damage dealt is reduced by 15%. It is incompatible with Predatory Surge and Overload.
Ghost Reflex
A near collision within 45 units triggers a 0.6-second mini-boost. After activation, the reflex has a ten-second cooldown that rivals can deliberately draw out.
Midnight Veil
Braking becomes 60% stronger and 35% cheaper. The violet trail reveals the escape direction even while the sharper stop changes timing.
Build principle
Select a repeatable situation.
A coherent build is not the one with the most bonuses. It is the one that repeatedly creates a situation you know how to use: Predator closes distance, Colossal compounds access to food, Electric punishes nearby routes, and Phantom preserves exits.
Check incompatibilities before committing. Spectral Skin cannot combine with Predatory Surge or Overload, so the system prevents contradictory extremes in boost economy and zone pressure.
